This year’s research identified several key trends: The most successful vertical market MSPs are zeroing in on financial services and healthcare, although consolidation in the healthcare IT services sector is accelerating. The list churn involves ChannelE2E’s rapidly expanding readership combined with MSP M&A activity. IT-Guru was ranked among the top vertical market MSPs with a vertical focus on Veterinary. “I’m honored to be named to this top 100 list and to be next to the many other successful IT companies named in this year’s list” said Joseph Axne, Owner of IT-Guru. “We have had a sole marketing focus on Veterinary for the past 4 years and starting to really make traction in this this micro vertical focus in 2016. Looking forward to continued growth and moving up on this list next year”   “After Nines Inc. congratulates IT-Guru on this year’s honor,” said Amy Katz, CEO of After Nines Inc. “MSPs across the globe are zeroing in on vertical market opportunities. Veterinary Referrals without Faxing

Posted on Jun 29, 2017

We help a lot of veterinary clinics and hospitals with their technology and amazed how dependent they are to the Fax!   Fax (short for facsimile), sometimes called telecopying or telefax can and will assist getting printed material (both text and images) transferred to another clinic or hospital. But the technology is from the mainstream 1980’s so 30+ year od technology.  The technology is old and slow and can be problematic when the single piece of hardware that does the faxing starts to have issues.  We call this a single point of failure, where only one piece of technology is dependent on doing an important function for a practice.   We are amazed how critical the fax can be, especially for a referral specialist which depends on receiving information about the client’s pet and sending information back to the referral clinic/hospital.  But there is a much, much better and easier way to transfer referral information back and forth, and won’t cost you ton of money.   There is a much better way of doing this which would eliminate that single point of failure called File Sync and Share.  This solution can be setup on multiple front desk machines, exam rooms, lab/pharmacy, doctor’s machines and even the practice manager’s PC/Mac if wanted or required.  It’s easy to use and setup making it extremely simple to just drag and drop files into a folder or webpage to send any files needed like DICOM, Patient Records, Lab Results, etc.   It’s simple to use and can be branded to your clinic, hospital or specialty care center.  The DICOM image transfer option is a nice feature because this also eliminates the need to burn a CD or transfer X-Ray images to a USB drive.  The files are local on PCs/Macs and can even be viewed on any mobile device with ease.  But it also syncs to the cloud so if the PC/Mac device fails it’s OK it’s safe.  Also safe from the latest Ransomware attacks as there is a simple roll-back option if someone deletes or corrupts the file in any way.   No more printing client record, when you are trying to go paper light or paperless.  No more stacking the paper and having to deal with the old fax technology to send the papers, waiting for them to feed through and assuring the other side got all the pages needed.  No more burning DICOM images for your clients or even the specialty referral company.  No more email rejections because the files are too big or attachments getting blocked.  Saving frustration and time consuming process of getting or giving information to a referral partner and even your clients.   This File Sync and Share solution can be used to provide time based access to client records.  So after 6 months the share can auto expire and require the client to make an appointment to receive updated patient records.  The link can be password protected to allow secure access to confidential information.   Seeing is believing how simple and effective this solution can be.  We offer a 15 Day trial and provide unlimited online remote support to get a trial implemented.  But in reality we typically see this solution ready to go within just one simple 1 hour online meeting.  Use the Contact us link above to and request to learn more about how you can eliminate that frustrating fax machine and use a better and more seamless process of File Sync and Share by...

Buying Bitcoin is NOT Easy

Posted on Jun 28, 2017

We are seeing a rash of Ransomware going around demanding payment via Bitcoin. We DO NOT recommend EVER paying the ransom, instead have a good Business Continuity Plan in place for your Veterinary Clinic or Hospital instead. This way you can just roll back to an exact point in time vs having to deal with paying to get your data back.   However after reading the following blog on DVM 360 Titled “My Veterinary Practice’s Data was Held Ransom” You will read this took his practice down for over 10 days trying to get this all sorted out. Oh, BTW the latest threat that is hitting called Petya, you wouldn’t want to pay the ransom at all, it is tied to only one email address and that address has been taken down. So if you did pay, you won’t get your data back because bad guys won’t be able to contact you and your data and money is lost forever (like throwing $300 away in the trash!)   But back to Bitcoin and how to purchase. You would need to find an XBTeller bitcoin machine. But before going there assuring you have the bitcoin wallet installed on your phone. This whole process I personally haven’t gone through (never needed to buy Bitcoin’s) but according to those I talked to can be very painful process to go through.   Here is a XBTeller here in Denver, not sure I would want to be going to a store called Vapor Jungle on Colfax, but if you are desperate I guess this would be somewhere you could get this done. They have nice instructions and you will notice they want cash only. Anything over $1000 requires government ID to track you.   Just like the DVM article I mentioned above this whole process is time consuming and expensive. What would it cost for your Veterinary Clinic or Hospital being down for 5-10 days? We recommend instead investing in preventive approach to try and avoid the whole Bitcoin experience. We recommend you have the following in place to protect your practice.   Assure you good backups that are NOT directly attached to your server or computer (USB Drives). Network target’s that are password protected to keep the bad guys from attacking your backup files. Assure you have Microsoft Patching up to date on your computers, especially the March updates. Assure you are patching Critical 3rd party software like Skype, Java, Adobe PDF, Mozilla Firefox, Adobe Flash, Adobe Air, Adobe Shockwave, Google Chrome, Microsoft Silverlight Assure you have centralized managed of Antivirus and Antimalware that is installed on all computers and up to date. Assure you have a Business class firewall with security subscription services to assist as another layer of protection, preventing specific file types from getting through to your network. Assure you have Web security in place as again another layer of protection especially for any roaming laptops. The web security we recommend protects against this ransomware tying to call back home and get the encryption keys and notifying you proactively that a machine may be compromised. Assure your users don’t have admin rights to their PCs to assist with stopping this, but the bad guys are now getting around this even!   Gone are the days of just assuring your computers and servers are behind a simple Best buy router. These are not good enough to protect your business. Gone are the days of just assuring you have some sort of AV installed. The seven things above are a great start but there are other preventative measures that can...
